Our rental fleet is made up of the latest model RVs from top industry brands! We keep our rental fleet in great condition and continuously rotate our fleet to keep up with the newest equipment and technology available.

Below you will find a list of commonly asked questions about renting an RV (Motorhome or Towable Travel Trailer).  Additional details can be found in our General Rules, Safety Tips, and Travel Prep documents accessible when viewing the details of your quote/reservation.

How old do I have to be to rent or drive an RV?

It is required that any renter/driver of any RV type be 25 years of age or older.

Do I need a special license to drive an RV?

No special license is required, but each driver must be currently covered under an auto insurance policy, must be named on the rental agreement, and verified as a driver or additional driver. There are no exceptions to this rule!

How is insurance handled to cover the RV during my trip?

Personal automobile policies may provide coverage for RV rentals. Personal auto insurance can sometimes provide the best coverage with the limits you are comfortable with and provide the protection you, as well as Kunes RV Rentals, require. Check with your insurance agent to find out if your personal policy or agent will provide full coverage (liability, comprehensive, collision) for the unit you are renting. If your personal insurance will cover you, Kunes RV Rentals can provide a binder request document you can provide to your agent.

If the renter is unable to obtain coverage through their own provider, coverage may be purchased through Kunes RV Rentals’ reservation system.  Information about costs and coverages can be found on-line.

Roadside Assistance is also available for purchase – details can also be found online.

What if I have a breakdown during my trip?

Triple A (AAA) as well as personal auto insurance may extend coverage for roadside assistance.  If the renter does not have roadside coverage that will extend to an RV Rental, Coach-Net Roadside Assistance can be purchased for a minimal cost per day.

Is there a minimum number of days you need to rent an RV?

There is a minimum of a 3-night rental.   However, the best daily rate is achieved when renting for 7 nights or more.

What do I need to make a rental reservation?

Making a rental reservation is simple to do. The easiest and quickest way is to make your reservation online.  If you need assistance, you can contact our offices. You will need the following things to complete your reservation:

  • Be at least 25 years old.
  • Determine how many people will need to be accommodated in sleep space and/or seats. (Seatbelts for MotorHome only).
  • Have your departure and return dates.
  • Know how many miles you estimate traveling round trip (Mileage for MotorHome only).
  • Your VISA, Mastercard, AMEX or Discover card
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reservation deposit of $500 to secure an RV for your reservation.

How and when do I pay for my Rental?

Payments using a Credit or Debit Card are processed online.

Day 1:  $500 Reservation Deposit processed.

14 days prior to departure:  Balance of Rental Fees are collected including estimated mileage if applicable.

Day prior to Departure:  Security Deposit is Authorized.

What is your cancellation policy?

If cancellation is:

Within 7 days of making reservation (but at least 30 days before departure): full refund of $500 Reservation deposit.

30 days before your departure date:  Refund of $500 reservation deposit if unit can be booked for dates of cancelled reservation. If not, reservation deposit will be converted to a credit to be used for future rental completed within 12 months of cancellation.

15 – 29 days before departure date: $500 reservation deposit converted to a credit to be used for future rental completed within 12 months of cancellation.

Within 14 days of departure: No refunds

If a refund is offered, it will be provided as a credit to the credit card used at the time of purchase within seven (7) days of the confirmed cancellation. An email confirming the cancellation and the status of the reservation deposit will be forwarded to the renter.

If you feel there is a possibility of cancellation, we suggest purchasing the trip insurance offered.  The cost is reasonable and provides peace of mind when preparing to travel.

What are the pickup and drop off times?

Exact pickup times will be scheduled within 7 days of your pickup date. Departures generally begin at 2 pm. Your pickup time is scheduled SPECIFICALLY for you!  That is your orientation appointment and we suggest you arrive 15 minutes prior.  Approximately 1 hour will be spent training to acquaint the renter with the operation of the RV prior to departure.

Pickup and drop off times are based on availability. RVs must be returned no later than 10am on the date of return. A late fee will be assessed for units returning after the scheduled return time.

Departures take place Monday- Friday, excluding holidays. Returns are permitted on the weekends or holidays ONLY with prior approval.

What is the security deposit?

The $1000 security deposit (or, damage deposit) is authorized one day prior to departure and is used to cover expenses such as damage or insurance deductible.  Additional expenses over the estimated trip costs such as additional miles (when applicable), refueling, dumping and cleaning fees, missing items, tolls, etc. will be processed using the Credit Card on file.

The security deposit is an authorization on a credit card. This does not charge the card and will not show on your statement, but it does place a hold on the funds preventing you from using the amount. The security deposit is mandatory and not negotiable.

What are mileage costs?

When renting a Motorhome, 100 miles are FREE for each night you rent – for example, 7 nights = 700 miles at no charge. After your initial free miles, the mileage rate is .39 per mile.

Travel Trailers incur no mileage costs.

What is required for towing a Travel Trailer?

In addition to being appropriately rated for the weight of the trailer rented, the tow vehicle must have:

  • Class III receiver
  • Electric brake controller
  • 7-way wiring plug

A weight distribution/anti-sway hitch is included at NO CHARGE for all Travel Trailer rentals.  The renter should arrive with an empty 2” receiver and technicians will fit and demonstrate the hitch.

The trailer tongue height is generally 18″-21″ off the ground – if your tow vehicle is higher, an additional drop hitch attachment may be required.  There are a limited number available to rent.  Please verify availability.

Campsites with excessive branches or vegetation that my scratch any surface of the RV exterior are to be avoided.  Exterior surface damage is chargeable to the Renter.  Trips into Mexico are not permitted. We reserve the right to exclude select destinations based on season or climate.

What AMPs do I need for electric hookups?

Many campgrounds will have various options for electric hookups. All of our motor homes and trailers utilize 30 AMP connection. In the event you need to connect to 110v/15AMP (regular household outlet) an adapter is provided.  When connected in this manner, everything will have power EXCEPT the overhead air conditioner and microwave.

What about the generator? Do you charge for generator use?

Only Motorhomes have a generator on board.  Generators are only needed when the RV is not plugged in to shore power to operate the roof air conditioner, microwave, TV/DVD players, and any item you want to plug in to a wall outlet.

We allow 2 hours of generator use free per night of rental, anything over that is $3.95 per usage hour. For example, a 7-night rental is allowed a total of 14 hours of generator usage at no charge.

If you are planning to provide a generator to power a Travel Trailer, you will need a minimum of 3500 WATT (recommend 5000 WATT).

GENERATOR CAUTION – many campgrounds restrict generator use due to noise.  If it is allowed, there may be limited hours/times it can be used.   Verify generator rules with your camping location.

No more than 450 miles should be driven per day. We recommend all RVs be parked and set up for camp before dark. This provides a better opportunity to check your campsite for any obstacles and avoid fatigue.
